Famous among all the PJ-Lang, Ban Huat Heng Kopitiam Chicken rice is said to be one of the must try chicken rice in Petaling Jaya area. If you are familiar with Happy Mansion Apartment, there are actually two famous roasted chicken/pork kopitiam that situated next to each other being one of them known as Choon Yien and the other is the Ban Huat Heng. In term of roasted chicken, I prefer the one from Ban Huat Heng while for the char Xiu (Roasted pork) I would prefer the one from Choon Yien. Ban Huat Heng roasted chicken stand out from the rest due to its crispy crunchy skin. Yummy!
What so special in Ban Huat Heng is that they do serve some other side orders such as Taofu, Bean Sprout & their famous ‘deep fried fish‘! Nothing much to shout about for the Taofu & bean sprout but when it comes to their signature deep fried fish, I got to tell you it is a must order! We didn’t get to order it this round as it was all sold out by the time we get there (1.15pm on Sunday). The specialty of the deep fried fish is actually the Cencaru fish stuffed with generous amount of sambal belacan. If you are a big fan for ‘kampung’ fish, it is a must eat for you.
Other than roasted chicken, they do serve ‘Bak Zam Gai’ (Poached chicken) as well. Their Char xiu wasn’t that bad after all when served together with the sweet char xiu sauce. In term of rice, you have the choices of 油饭 either in normal chicken rice or chicken rice that is shaped into ball shape.
Another specialty in Ban Huat Heng is that they do serve thick blended ginger as well for those who really like it to pair with your meal.
